The Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region has destroyed sex-enhancing drugs and other illicit substances worth millions of cedis.
The drugs, including Tramadol, Hyergra 200, Indian hemp, and Benylin Codeine, were destroyed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
The Station Officer of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit, Inspector Nkrumah, said dozens of people have been arrested in connection with the drugs and have been arraigned before the courts.
“These drugs were seized last year, while others were seized this year, and our laws allow us to destroy them,” he said.
Inspector Nkrumah added that intelligence-led operations enabled the police to arrest drug dealers operating across the Ashanti Region.
He warned that no drug peddler would be spared in the ongoing operations and urged the youth and traders to desist from engaging in drug trafficking.
“The law provides strict punishment for drug peddlers, and we will enforce these provisions to ensure that offenders are brought to book,” Inspector Nkrumah emphasised.
