Relatives of two men killed in Nyamandu in the Nanton area of the Northern Region have accused security agencies of delaying the arrest of individuals responsible for the killings.

Addressing the press on April 11, 2026, the families alleged that no suspects have been apprehended since the incident, raising fears that the perpetrators may still be within the Nanton area, according to a report by channelonenewsonline.com.

They have therefore appealed to the Ghana Police Service to intensify investigations and ensure justice is served.

The families expressed disappointment over what they described as the police service’s failure to make progress in the case nearly a year after the incident.

“They described the June 30, 2024 attack as tragic and unwarranted, recounting that the victims were assaulted in the early hours of the day, between 12:20 am and 1:00 am, just hours before the burial of Yussif Mohammed’s father.

“According to the families, both men were key figures in their community, and their deaths have left a deep emotional and financial toll on their dependents,“ they stated.

Yussif Mohammed is survived by his wife and five children, while Karim Tibung left behind three wives and 15 children.

The families have stated that the dependents are struggling to cope in the absence of their breadwinners.

They also called for urgent support for the widows and children affected by the tragedy, urging the public and civil society organisations to back their demand for accountability.

The families insist the matter must not be allowed to fade without resolution.
