Newborn baby found buried at Kwesimintsim

An unfortunate incident has been reported at Kwesimintsim Zongo in Takoradi, where a newborn baby was discovered buried.

The disturbing event is said to have occurred around the 5 Gold Area, where residents noticed something unusual and raised an alarm.

According to a post shared by CDR Africa on X on April 19, 2026, an eyewitness who lives in the area said a man residing in the house noticed something strange on the ground.

The man reportedly dug into the soil to investigate what had been buried, initially suspecting it to be something related to witchcraft or “juju.” However, he instead discovered a newborn baby.

The eyewitness said the baby was wrapped in pampers and clothing, suggesting it had been deliberately buried.

“We came to meet it. I live with a man who discovered this morning that someone had dug, thinking it was black magic (juju). But afterwards, we realised that it was a newborn baby who had not yet matured for the nine-month period. The baby was in pampers, wearing cloth and other things, which somebody buried here,” he said in Twi.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the newborn lying in the hole in which it was found.

Authorities have since been informed, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible and ensure appropriate action is taken.
