The Ghana Police Service has interdicted five of its personnel after viral videos emerged depicting conduct that bring the Service into disrepute.

The news of the interdiction was contained in a statement issued on May 4, 2026.

"The Ghana Police Service has interdicted five (5) personnel sighted in viral videos engaging in acts that tend to put the name of the Service into disrepute", it noted.

The Service further disclosed that the affected officers have been handed over to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for further investigations.

"The affected personnel, Chief Inspector Matthew Blay, Chief Inspector Francis Arthur, Inspector Eric Osei of the Osu Police Station in Accra, Sergeant Amos Dery of the National Protection Unit (NPU) as well as Inspector Joseph Okyere Asabre of the Obuasi Police District, have been handed over to the Police Professional Standards Bureau for investigations in line with the Service's internal disciplinary procedures", the statement said.

It reaffirmed its commitment to integrity and professionalism and gave the assurance that appropriate action after investigations.

"The Ghana Police Service reiterates its commitment to professionalism, integrity, and accountability, and assures the public that appropriate action will be taken upon the conclusion of the investigation", it added.
