The Ghana Police Service on May 12, 2026, gave details of a murder case involving a victim who had gone to a fetish priest for treatment but ended up becoming the prey of the priest.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, said that the priest murdered his client, who had turned to him to help her find a solution to her illness.
She added that after killing the victim somewhere in the Central Region, the fetish priest took part of her mortal remains to the Volta Region.

“Investigations established that the deceased had previously sought herbal treatment from the suspect in 2025 for a swollen leg condition. On March 4, 2026, she reportedly visited him again for spiritual assistance to protect her business.
“After consultations at his shrine, the suspect allegedly lured her into a nearby bush under the pretext of collecting herbs, where he attacked her from behind with a cutlass, killed her, dismembered the body, and concealed the remains in the bush before taking parts away,” the CID boss disclosed.
COP Donkor disclosed that the suspect fetish priest confessed to his crimes, including the fact that he decapitated the head of his client and sent it to the Volta Region.
He even gave the exact location where he had buried the head of the deceased.
“During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the offence and disclosed that he had buried the deceased's head at Mafi Avedo in the Volta Region,” she said.
