In a press release issued on Thursday, June 11 2026, the police said the arrests followed investigations into the activities of alleged land guards who had been intimidating land developers, assaulting victims and destroying properties within the affected communities.

Police disclosed that Abdul Rahman Moro and three accomplices allegedly stormed an uncompleted storey building at Kassim City near Gomoa Nyanyano on May 18, 2026, where they reportedly halted construction works and seized workers’ tools.
Investigators say the suspect allegedly assaulted the complainant with an iron rod, causing a head injury, while demanding an unauthorized payment of GH¢350 from the victim before work could continue on the site.
“Suspect Abdul Rahman in the process assaulted the complainant with an iron rod resulting in an injury on his head while he demanded an unauthorized amount of GH¢ 350.00 from him for digging on the site,” the police stated.
The second suspect, Mohammed Salisu alias “UN”, is also accused of leading groups of persons to harass landowners and developers in the area.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that he had been “engaging and personally leading some persons to cause harm, terrorize land developers, cause damage to individual properties and also prevented them from developing their lands.”
The two suspects have since been arraigned before court and remanded into police custody.
They are expected to reappear before the Ofaakor District Court on June 19 and June 22, 2026, respectively, while police continue efforts to track down other accomplices believed to be on the run.
The Central East Regional Police Command also commended residents for cooperating with investigators, saying public support played a key role in the arrests.
“The Command wishes to appreciate the cooperation from members of the public which led to the arrest of the suspects and also urges the public to report person(s) who engage in such acts to the nearest Police station or call Police Emergency numbers 191/18555,” the statement added.
