Man butchers 60-year-old friend over alleged affair with his aunt

A 35-year-old man identified as Ezekiel has been apprehended at Bawjiase Babianeha in the Central Region after allegedly hacking his 60-year-old friend to death with a machete over an alleged romantic relationship between the deceased and his aunt.

According to reports, Ezekiel had repeatedly warned the deceased to end the relationship before eventually carrying out the attack.

A voice-over in a video circulating on social media indicated that Ezekiel had been making threats in the days leading up to the incident, but those around him did not take him seriously.

"It started four days ago — according to the youth in the area, he had been talking about killing someone. They thought he was just talking," the voice-over stated.

The deceased was discovered by community members with multiple machete wounds on his body.

"This morning, some people found the man dead with machete wounds on his body, so they found Ezekiel and apprehended him," the voice-over added.

Ezekiel was subsequently identified and apprehended by residents before the police arrived at the scene.

Reports indicate that Ezekiel has a history of mental illness, which locals believe may have contributed to the tragic incident.

Police have since visited the scene and commenced investigations into the matter.
