You should've called the police to arrest him. Now your case could be life imprisonment.
A man’ castle is his home and place of livelihood. The farmer defended his bona fide place of sustenance that provided a stable home for his family. He is right in what he did.
Take him to court a couple of times and make it a foolish case. Next time when gets chance to come to the world of the living he will work for his own good.

Leave the farmer alone because he was protecting his crops from lazy thieves.
Jail that wicked farmer for at least 50 years imprisonment. To steal is bad but to destroy what God has created is an abomination. He was not an armed robber. Very sad.
