The car snatch allegedly happened at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region
A suspected car snatching incident has been captured at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, sparking concern among residents.
According to a video by Daily Graphic on Facebook and sighted by GhanaWeb on Saturday, August 22, 2026, the suspect allegedly attacked a taxi driver and demanded control of the vehicle.
He was, however, unable to flee with the car due to the large crowd that gathered at the scene.

An eyewitness recounted that the suspect, upon noticing the large crowd approaching, sat in the car, attempting to overpower the driver while insisting that he surrender the vehicle.
When the driver refused, the suspect forcefully drove into nearby mounted canopies where items were being sold.
He said that upon hearing people shout, he fled into a mobile money container, where he became trapped.
"He sat in the car, trying to attack the driver and demanding that he hand over the vehicle. When the driver refused, he forced his way into that place. Then, as people began shouting, thief, he ran into the mobile money container. Now he’s stuck inside, and we’re all waiting for the police to arrive," he narrated.
