These fiancial institutions should check and enforce strict measures to make sure the people they deal with have good credit history. They shopuld perform credit checks and such amount should be secured with collateral. Otherwise, be expecting problems like these when issuing unsecured loans.

In Europe, US and advance countries, it is easy to check such credir history but in Ghana this is not possible for so many reasons, including lack of unique citizen identification, viable address system, easy accessibiliyt to Ghana passport (so that some people have up to 6 passports).

I suggest that instead of accepting cheques, creditors MUST be direct debited from their banks so that due amounts are directly booked. I do not understand why they still use cheques in Ghana, when the issuing bank can transfer direct to the receiving bank.

The purpose of microfinance/microcredit institutions to give access to those who are unable to secure credit from traditional lenders, i.e. banks, credit unions, etc. Therefore, if they begin to request collateral and credit checks, microfinance institutions would be failing to fulfill the purpose for which they were created. Look into the Graeme Bank (Bangladesh) for information on the origins of microlending.

What do mean by same number is a fraud Ghanani? The supreme court even had rule that same number is insignificant in Ghana. The Lawyers of this lady will defense the case base on this.

IF this is a microlending company, paying back GHC in 8 months is a very short time.As the monthly payments would be quite high GHC 3000 per month. The term should be more like 18 months. Something is not right here.
