Goaso is a busy town with a lot of traffic and sending a ten or eleven year old to negotiate these busy streets is dangerous that can result in tragedy. What if this girl got hit by a car? What would the Teacher have done.

Considering the investment we have made in education since independence Ghana should have been far advanced by now. It is high time we switched to effective and quality education. We cannot invest so many man hours and money on students only for them to score zero in BECE or SSCE. However we must not forget that if our educational system is good but our economy is bad we would just be exporting labor. A good economy is necessary for a good educational system and a good educational system is necessary for a good economy. Our educational system must be purpose oriented.

Now, even if the girl had been sent to negotiate 'a busy road network' in Goaso, Ghana being Ghana, she might have been selling Insu, Iced Water etc. along the so-called 'busy' road for sometime so she is probably even more 'road wise' than the 'honourable Cardinal'. The article actually says the place is NEAR the School. Whatever it is, the errand was for a Lesson in Class and I do not think this a bad idea getting pupils involved in their class activity. This issue of assaulting Teachers is becoming a problem and the Ministry of Education and the Law Enforcement Agencies should find a way of putting a stop to it before teachers stop accepting postings to certain places. It might not look professional but one's physical safety is more important!.

You have shit for brains. The fact of the matter is that, even if children sell ice water on the busy streets, they do so at their parents orders who are responsible for them and their needs and that is even illegal in Ghana. There is no way a Teacher should be sending other people children on errands, it is the Teachers responsibility to bring her teaching tools to class.

I have my Auntie, cousins etc living in Goaso as cocoa farmers and have been to that town not less than five times so I know what I am talking about.

In as much as I frown upon the act, I have read within the last month THREE stories where married teachers sleep with their teenage students in the US. In fact the last one I read early this week involved a 'threesome' act between a 41 year old married teacher and her 16 and 17 year old students. Which is worse? We all have our problems - those countries are not any more civilised.

WE LIVE IN A COUNTYR WHERE NO ONE RESPECTS A TEACHER, HOW CAN WE EXPECT RESULT. HYPOCRITES. FROM THE TOP TO THE BUTTOM NO ONE RESPECTS THE TEACHER EVEN THE EDUCATION MINISTRY IS NOT EXCEPTION. NO WONDER WE ARE NOT DEVELOPED.

The sisters should be given 12 mths each and the boy made to do communal work at the school and talk to other children about anger managment,if not other families/ children are waiting to see what will happened,there should not be any out of court settlement.I once visited my only 4yr old daugther in one of the boarding schools in Accra ond observed a deep cut on one of her legs and she told me one of the teachers canned her and she sustained the cut l only told her to be a good girl,l was an RN/Midwife in Ghnan,her father a director of a company.we could have made noise about it but her father did not know about it, and l did not confront the teacher or made a report to the headmaster which l should done thinking about it now,my daugther is now 25yrs old but the scar is still on her leg,l don't know where respect has gone to these days,they should have rather asked the boy to apologize to the teacher and asked that he should be punished.OVER TO YOU GNAT.

I think we sometimes need to be extra careful about our judgments. I think the information as posted here is a one-sided report from the victim, and that the accused persons may also have their version of the story. I wonder how the senior brother, a student of the elementary school, could slap the teacher for sending his sister. What was it for? I think the teacher might have done something wrong to the senior brother which perhaps enraged him to retaliate. Then after, the teacher perhaps beat him recklessly which led him to inform the sisters. In advanced world, a teacher who is not self-controlled, lacking the ability to respond diplomatically to annoying issues, is prone to expulsion. I think this is a little issue that she should have been able to handle as a teacher. You have no right to send a child during school hours in advanced countries. What if something bad happens to her on her way? Who will be responsible for that? How can the teacher compensate for that? It is the families that own the child, not the teacher, and as such they have every right to protect their child. However, it shouldn't go to the extent of beating up the teacher. But, I suspect the teacher might have done something wrong to the senior brother who confronted her. This is my point of view.
