Five years in prison for a stealing plantains is way too harsh but I guess he got the stiffer punishment because he's a repeated convict. It's sad because he's probably without a job & hungry.

The Judicial Service should be identifying such weird judgements for review since it is clear such a judge needs psychiatric help. If the Judicial Service fails, don't we have an Attorney-General?

The serious fraud office has done nothing about the theft of ghana funds..stealing 3 bunchs of plaintain should not require more than 3 month of jail and really 3 weeks would probably teach the theive a lesson!

The society could have find out why he is in that stealing spree? probably lack of job is the pushing factor. Why not give him a custodian sentence or better still employ him as a cleaner or anything of the sort in the judiciary service to help him make earns meet?

When a hungry man takes plantain he gets sentenced into jail for five years with hard labor.
The Judge/Magistrate did not act as a REASONABLE BEING in exercising his discretion.

Note he is a repeat criminal. The sentence,though harsh, may be is to act as a deterrent. No one knows what the conditions of his earlier realeaee were and so let's note hysterical about the sentence .
