Since when did polygamy become an offence in Ghana? Many more should have been arrested before this poor guy. By the way, how many wives does Bagbin have? An I hear the two women are sisters.

If a man can marry 100 and be able to care for them and the children, why bother them?

Many men have a lot of girlfriends with kinds yet you don't arrest them? Its better to marry two wives than having babies all over and you cannot support them. Polygamy is real amoung men in west and Africa.

This is one of the good examples of us Africans always swallowing whatever the whiteman throws at us! How can we accept this Western idea without blinking an eye? Yes, as it has been argued out here, if I have one wife but THREE Girlfriends some of whom could be the same age as my children, it will be fine under the Law. I could even buy houses and cars for them, have kids with them and it becomes an 'open secret' with everyone knowing about it but closing their eyes. Just like in France where even a serving President with a wife would be having girlfriends and yet the whiteman calls our culture illegal and we all say AMEN! However primitive our culture is, there is something called MORALITY which the culture seeks to observe. There are checks and balances in the cultural system to monitor and eliminate abuses in a polygamous marriage.Is it really 'primitive' to think that our Culture should be the norm FOR US and TO HELL with the immoral, permissive, and illogical 'Cultures' being thrown at us? I am sorry, do not give me the shameful argument of Globalization! If Globalization is a One-Way Traffic, where no other culture or system contributes to what is going on, then we have a serious trouble on our hands! May the Good Lord Himself bring sense into the brains of our so-called leaders.

Really, I think the policemen had no work to do. They could have provided a better service by arresting those who have been responding to nature calls at our beaches.

Please be serious and look into better issues. If the husband is taking good care of the first wife, what is the problem.
How can the first wife be some where else and the husband alone at another place and you expect him not to marry. Come on wake up my bro and sisters there on the high table.

Polygamy is not illegal in Ghana per say but if you are married by ordinance, then you can only marry one person. We have four marriages in Ghana; Ordinance(Court Marriage), Christianity( White wedding), Islamic('Awure') and ...

Polygamy is not illegal in Ghana per say but if you are married by ordinance, then you can only marry one person. We have four marriages in Ghana; Ordinance(Court Marriage), Christianity( White wedding), Islamic('Awure') and Traditional. Islamic and Traditional allows polygamy in accordance to LAY DOWN conditions whiles Ordinance and Christianity is one man one wife. If you marry a second person before your previous marriage is legally dissolved, you and the second spouse shall be charge for BIGAMY. So know the of marriage you choose.
