I think this is unprofessional, injustice and unfair on the part of this Judge. People committed serious crime more than stealing cassava but re freely walking about.

What!!!ten years for stealing cassava and Mahama and his forty thieves are walking freely. That is injustice at its greatest level. Then Asiedu Nketia should be jailed 25 years for wearing a woman's garment.

In sentencing the court needs to take into account the level of seriousness of the offence . The perpetrators attitude to the offence, victim and level of remorse as well as early guilty plea . Besides what is the level of premeditation and harm to the victim. The mitigating circumstances of this theft of cassava honestly does not warrant 10 years in jail. Who feeds the offender these years it is the tax payer. Common sense was to confisticate the cassava and sentence him to a fine , as community sentence options are not available yet. Else this should be community service for 140 hours on the victim's farm ,

What? What am I seeing and hearing that a cassava thief has been jailed 10 years. Cassava costing Ghc 500 .00, doesn't warrant this sort of punishment. If I may ask, how many years will the judge give to someone who defrauded Ghana to the tune of Ghc51.2m? The accused person admitted the offence. He should have been made to pay may double the amount. This single act of the judge shows how wicked he is. This can only be done in Ghana. It isn't good to steal but the judgment was too harsh. This should have tried Woyome and not that cassava. The law favours the rich and condemn the poor. This judgment is critical example. Hmmm, Ghana our motherland is bleeding profusely. Politicians are stealing money, they are walking chin in chest out on the streets. Because they have money to bribe. The poor guy, out of hunger stole a few tubers of cassava and that was his end.
