It shouldn't have been any of your concern. Dormant account doesn't mean your forfeited. The day you ask about the account and you are told it is in dormant it is the bank's obligation to reactivate with the calculated lost interest. It is good to ask about things you know little of.

If you show your certificates and they are genuine the bank has to give you their value in cash that's if you want to sell if they don't have the end copies should not mean for you to lose your money. It is always good to ask for help for things you know little about. Somebody may have taken it for themselves.Go back and collect your money.

So it's not only politicians that are thieves. We keep our money in the bank for safety. Now there are pen robbery in the banks stealing our funds. Worst even are the so called men of God stealing our money and wives

I share same sentiments, but have you stopped to ask yourself how you can stop this happening to your funds, should it happen you accidentally lose your life?
Does anybody other than yourself know of the number of Bank accounts you have?
Does even your wife or husband know about your bank account?
How then do you expect your saved funds and investments will reach them when you die?

Take a lesson from this and make sure you at least have someone who knows about all that you have done with money and can take over getting this fund out to your loved ones should you be deceased.

We mostly are secretive with our loved ones when it comes to our money, but all of that money then ends up with strangers when we accidentally die.

Wise up and protect your investments.

Kwesi, only needed the bank to reactivate your account and you get your money back. Dominant accounts are temporarily closed to special accounts by banks. As soon as a customer comes to inquire about their account the bank is obliged to reactivate the account. If the account is a saving account all accrued interest should be calculated. If you did not follow up with the bank you dashed them free money.

When I went the following week to withdraw the money, they gave me only the fresh amount I had deposited. The initial deposit I had used to open the account was NEVER given to me. I lost a pretty huge amount of money which I believe Standard Chartered bank, High Street, Accra, had stolen from me.

KWASI IN EUROPE, similar situation happened to me with HFC. I was in Europe and had Tbills income into my account quarterly. I contacted the bank atleast 4 times within a year to request various assistance and they did. At a point, I realized HFC was not a good bank so I wanted to move on and I requested my Tbill to be redeemed so I could make a payment. They told me my account was dormant and I asked them why I was not informed, despite several communication with them. I tried to resolve this asap but they kept ignoring me and telling me cock and bull stories about so I involved BOG (extremely helpful) and with their help my account was reactivated and I was able to tranfer my money to a new and far better (so far) bank. Don't give up. Its your money.

This shows the manager's level of callousness. He should be punished severely for exhibiting the sense dishonesty in his duty as a trustee. He deserves nothing but imprisonment in hard labour.
