I couldn't agree more. It should not be a choice between refunding the stolen funds & prison. They must be made to refund the money & jailed as well. Ghana is a joke

This is how this Mahama administration is fighting corruption and not the first time such a deal has been hatched.

Mahama business partner, the owner of rlg who was caught for stealing over two hundred million new Ghana cedis got the same deal, to refund the money by four installment payments. He made the first payment and has not made any payment since and that was two years ago. A lot of Ndc thieves have been given this option.

This is the reason why corruption has become endemic in this government. Why should anybody stop stealing if the punishment is that, when you are caught, you cut a deal to refund the money without even paying it.

These people should be prosecuted and if found guilty sent to prison for over twenty years and all their properties confiscated including ones they have given to family members.

I disagree, as others FEAR serving JAIL TERMS, so though it cost the state, GHANA PRISONS isn't a place these people would want to go. CONSEQUENCES HAVE TO BE FEARED.

This I will beg to differ Mrs Justice. This is a premeditated case of stealing, planning to steal and stealing. Where in our law books dose it say that the defendant in a criminal case can have choices. What is happening to Mother Ghana.

We have really become corrupt, how can you even think of such an option?

I am really lost for words.

We all have rights until proven by the courts to be guilty. I don't believe that is what happened. The new director by daily publication is destroying the image of the scheme . what if the case fails how will you repair the damage caused the individuals. The issue is some may not be guilty. P Whyte stop acting like a novice. Be professional.

Typical Steal money, get caught, pay it back and then nothing. This just encourages theft. What should happen is that when caught, the criminal pays it back plus prison and or a fine depending on the amount stolen.

Nana Antwi Boasiako is the Chief of Sekyedumasi and Oduro Nyannibg from Bonwire all in the Ashanti Region. They were neither prosecuted nor made to refund about $18m because they are staunch NPP members and Ashantis.
It is only a matter of time that the law will catch up with them. Reports and evidence are in the President's office, Ministry of Communications and the Serious Fraud Office. Fraud prosecution has no limitation date. A poor post office clerk embezzles 10 million old ghana cedis and he is jailed for 7 years. Why?

For the rich and influential there is no law. At any rate the accused have pleaded not guilty meaning that they do not accept taking the money. So why do they agree to refund same? Why agree to refund money you say you never took? And where are they going to get such huge amounts from if they have not stolen it?

Surely, this is not the first time they have done it. They are experts in the stealing business. They should be dragged to court and if found guilty, should refund the money at the current value, go to prison as a deterrent and lose their jobs when they finish the sentence. Ghost names have gone on in the NSS for too long a time, probably since the eighties.
