  Poor illiterate Journalist, learn your trade well else don't report on subject you know little about. A S/Sgt in the Military is not an OFFICER. Its not as in the Police Service. Don't confuse issues.

  All soldiers trained at the Army Recruit Traning School(ARTS) Shai Hills are called OTHER RANKS(OR). Only those trained at Ghana Military Academy(GMA), at Teshie are given the Presidential Commission and become OFFICERS.

Do you have any friends that would pay your children's school fees in England? All your friends are poor but JJ has rich friends, who made them rich? Mahama's family and friends are all millionaires. Stop defending politicians when they are attacked. These insults would help put them in their right place "SERVANTS OF STATE AND NOT KINGS OR LORDS, UNAPPROACHABLE, ABOVE THE LAW, UNACCOUNTABLE} This behavior has turned cats into tigers(DICTATORS} ruining our continent.
  Regarding Alhassan, I would say he is a shame to the Ghana military which is struggling to uplift their image after many years of meddling in politics and abuse of p0ower. The sad thing is that there are many Alhassans in the army and in the police force. They all commit various crimes against individuals and against the nation everyday but people are even afraid to question them because of intimidation.

  This 'unspecified amount' business seems like a wide gaping whole for someone else to reach into that stolen money to help himself or herself before any proper account is made to the owners.
  
  I hope the exact amount was soon pinned down by the Police but the reporter could not have time to research for it (a flimsy excuse). The semblance of unaccountability, here, among the arresting agents is a little worrying to me.

  Note that a "Staff Sergeant" is NOT a rank within the Officer Corps of the Ghana Army (or the Army of any country for that matter). It is in the category of "OTHER RANKS" (or "ENLISTED PERSONNEL" in the Army of the USA).

Are judges just free to sentence on a whim?? Are there sentencing standards and guidelines that judges must follow??? Sentence must be overturned it is prima facie excessive.
