People are lynched all the time in almost every town and city in Ghana. Nobody protests. Suddenly a young "handsome" man called Mahama is lynched and everybody is pretending that it is a henious crime.
Will there be a campaign to stop lynching in Ghana or are we just angry because a man from a prominent family has been lynched.
Let us use this death of the young soldier to ensure that lynchings come to an end in Ghana.

This trend has been with us for some time. We hear and see these things in the streets of our towns and communities in Ghana. Hardly a day passes and there is no news of some one being lynched. To tell the hard truth Ghana has a weak police service who can not protect her citizens. The police should pretent that they are unaware of these trends. Most often the police are extorshinists, bullies, corrupt and nothing goes well for any one who is not connected to the powers that be or knows nobody to front your case with the police for you. It is disheartening. There is despondency in Ghanaians towards the police. It is frustrating to deal with the police.
Mark my words, after the brouhaha, the lynching will still go on. The blood of those lynched will hunt Ghana. Seriously Ghanaians have become angrier and blood thirsty. Politics have fuelled and heightened all these things.
God have mercy on us!!

Soldiers have no right to upset the constitutional order, because one soldier has been killed. Has the military ever commented on the numerous lynchings in the country? Or do you think the life of a soldier is more important than the lives of other victims of lynchings? We condemn the killing of this soldier, but so should the lynching of other victims be condemned. Every life matters and therefore, the national frenzy about the lynching of one army officer smacks of national double standards and hypocrisy.

That is the underlying theme in these lynchings. It seems you are more likely than not to be lynched in Ghana for stealing and thievery which shows a strong abhorrence for stealing and thievery. Maybe we might want to look into reforms of the Justice delivery system to ensure fairness and accountability.
Nicking a phone shouldn't result in lynching. If nicking a phone results in lynching how much more looting of millions of dollars?

If the intruder is within compound and you have reasonable reasons to doubt their intensions as a good person but rather somebody who is there to harm you then its is perfectly fine to defend yourself otherwise you can not lynch. There should be capital punishment for those who lynch for reasons other than self defense.
