Parents, especially DISGRUNTLED FATHERS who have FAILED IN LIFE and have no hope of ever being called REAL MEN in the Ghanaian and the African context quite often beat their children in such barbaric and inhuman way. It is sad.

I have seen some of such barbaric treatment of Children in Kumasi, Accra, and Tamale.

In Tamale, I saw one first hand and the wicked Father who beat up this poor boy, his son, complained that the boy had stolen and eaten some boiled rice he had kept for himself. The man was an Ashanti on duty in Tamale. Of course the authorities dealt with him in a way he would never forget.

As our society progresses in Ghana, harsh punishment ought to be meted out to such wicked Fathers, and the maltreated Children must be taken care of by the City or the State.

A fraction of one Percent (0.1%) of all the money stolen by successive Governments and their cohorts in Ghana could easily provide Welfare Services for such unfortunate Children.

By the way children in such unfortunate situations should be taken away from the wicked Fathers who maltreat and starve them.

However it is worth to observe that whilst little thievery and dishonesty should not and never be condoned by any sane persons or adults, sigificantly though, seeing the marks left on this 5 year old is just above discipline

The angervdemonstrated as punishment is not commensurate with the offence

I recall my daughter at 7 years did similar thing by stealing fried fish from the fridge reserved for the family dinner
As asked her, she admitted the offence, where upon l counselled her about how God hates theft
Social services should not only remove the child but investigate if this level of chastisement is a habitual conduct of the fatherbesides establish if the young child ate before going to bed or not
Both father and child will require professional counselling of a sort

Where is social services and what are they doing about this individual case. Child abuse under physical abuse must taken very seriously. This is not accepted and the police must be involved in this.

This is so sad, the boy needs a temporal guardian, but he also needs his dad. This man needs psychological help; he looks likes a frustrated single father, with financial problems. He needs help with anger management and parenting skills. It is not everything that must end up in a jail sentence. We must introduce community services, where offenders serve shorter sentences, offering community services for a few hours per day. There are many like him, "slow cookers" waiting to erupt, we must find a way to help such parents quickly before they harm their children.

Ghana needs to have good government. I don't miss the times we had to go and smell the neighbors stew from outside her house to pretend we ate. That's why I left and worked hard to be a doctor. Ghanaians let's work hard and be honest and it will be well with us.
