Two persons have reportedly been robbed and killed by suspected armed robbers on the Pigu-Karaga highway in the Northern Region.
The unidentified robbers were said to have ambushed the Kia Rhino mini bus with registration number GR 6226 – 14, on which the victims were travelling, and opened fire, killing the driver, identified as 55-year-old Mohammed Amidu and his mate, 20-year-old Abdulai Alhassan.
The bodies of the victims have since been released to their respective families for burial in line with Islamic tradition.
An unidentified third victim has been admitted at the Karaga District Hospital in a state of unconsciousness.
Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, DSP Mohammed Yusuf Tanko, Northern Regional Police PRO, assured the traveling public that the police are ready to fight highway robbery.
DAILY GUIDE has gathered that the police retrieved AK 47 ammunition at the crime scene.
He urged the general public to help the, with any information that can lead to the arrest of the robbers.
