National Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, has urged Ghanaians to be careful the kind of banks they invest in.
According to him, banks will continue to exist in the country but the responsibility lies with the depositor to do background checks before investing in a specific bank.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s "Kokrokoo", he advised Ghanaians to be vigilant and make proper investments stating emphatically that "there is no business that will give unreasonable excess interest or profit to customers".
He further urged Ghanaians to be wary of businesses that "sweet-talk" them with promises of making huge interest rate on transactions.
“From R5 to PIRAM, BAMASK Farms, US Tilapia, DKM, Menzgold...We should learn something from all these examples...Before you trust any bank to deposit your money, you must do proper checks and be convinced that they have all it takes to protect your money," he stated.
