The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and members of his government to return all the state monies they have supposedly looted.

Speaking at his party’s 2024 Strategy Session in Atlanta, USA, over the weekend, Asiedu Nketiah said that Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party (NPP) government still have the chance to redeem themselves because the NDC will pursue them to retrieve all the monies they have plundered from the state.

He indicated that the president’s main concern now is what will transpire after he leaves office, but he (Akufo-Addo) can save himself by setting things right before departing.

"Nana Akufo-Addo and his government can be likened to a person who is riding a tiger. If you get down, you will be devoured, and if you stay on the back of the tiger, you will die of hunger. They are not worried about leaving power, but their real problem is what happens after leaving power.

"... they still have time to return all the looted funds or hold onto them and face the consequences. So, those who can communicate with NPP people, let them know that it is our duty to save this country, and one of the ways to save this country is to take over power and hold each and every office bearer accountable for their stewardship," he said.

The NDC national chairman stated that the next NDC government would implement measures to trace all the funds that have been looted from the state and which are being kept in offshore accounts.

He also urged supporters of the NDC not to assume the 2024 election is a foregone conclusion because polls suggest that the party will win both the parliamentary and presidential elections, but to work hard to ensure victory on December 7, 2024.
