President Nana Akufo-Addo has said he would not want to hand over power to someone who cannot run the country effectively.
According to him, Vice-president and New Patriotic Party flagbearer is the best person to take over for the job.
He said this during his tour of the Ahafo Region on October 29, 2024, where he expressed his gratitude to the people for their support throughout his tenure.
He also endorsed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his preferred successor.
In his speech, President Akufo-Addo highlighted Dr. Bawumia's competence and suitability for the role, stating, "I am the best person to testify about Bawumia in this country. He is very competent.
“I don't want to hand over power to someone who cannot do the job. God will not even allow it. Bawumia is the perfect person to take over from me."
The President's endorsement comes as the December 7 general elections come around the corner, he urged the public to support Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming elections.
