The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito, has asserted that he would impose capital punishment if he were to be President of Ghana.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme, Kofi Kapito asserted that the systems in the country are not working properly because of what he described as a lack of supervision.

“We travel to go and place an order for brand-new ambulances… we take the Select Committee of Parliament to go and do the final inspection of the ambulances. And the ambulance gets here, and the basic equipment is not even part of it,” he said.

According to the CEO, the failure of the systems in Ghana has nothing to do with behaviour.

He insisted that what is lacking is the “supervision” of people in public office.

He indicated that if he were to be the President of Ghana, he would ensure that people in public office who fail the country are punished, with some even being killed.

“I keep telling people that if I were the President of Ghana, I would kill half of the people in Ghana,” he added.
