Speaking in an interview over the weekend, Boakye-Danquah stressed that internal cohesion is key to securing electoral victory for the party’s presidential candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia.

He stated, “We need unity for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to become president in the country. Tarkwa-Nsuaem has accepted Chairman Wontumi and he will become the chairman of the party, so we are all calling on the party for unity to snatch the power from the NDC.

"Chairman is on the ground, who is a grassroots chairman who will help us win the election,” he said.

Boakye-Danquah added that the Unity Walk reflects efforts by the party to energise its base and reinforce cohesion at all levels as it prepares for the polls.

Chairman who is the Ashanti regional chairman of the party is contesting for the National chairmanship slot on the ticket of the NPP.
