Since May 1966 when NLC invited them into Ghana, their policy has been to de-industrialize us. They are responsible for us shutting down Nkrumah’s factories, devaluing our currency repeatedly. In short, they want Ghana to remain a neocolonial state subject to their economic control. Our recent attempts to free ourselves is raising alarm bells at the IMF and World Bank. Expect all sorts of critical reports from them every week or so. The hope is that the NPP and Joy FM will run with it and force us back where they want us. You just watch.

Every business person knows this. If you want to be successful, appoint and recruit people with competence and expertise on the fields.

The fact that NPP did same doesn't make it right and shouldn't form a defence at all.

There's a reason NPP was booted out of office-this arrogance of power and lack of listening ear.

Simply put people based on their competences on the boards and be very intentional in running the SOEs to make more profit. How is this something to argue about.

The disparaging part is that this isn't related to one political party but all parties that wins political power. Let's be honest:
An appointee whose job depends on the President will NEVER have the balls to enforce the law against the ruling party. He will grant exemptions to party financiers, waive penalties for party boys, and turn a blind eye when party people evade duties. The institution becomes an extension of the party headquarters — collecting for the party, not for Ghana.
That is why GRA, Ports and other revenue bodies leak billions while ordinary Ghanaians suffer.
The Chief Whip is defending a failed, corrupt system that benefits politicians, not citizens. He is defending party interest over national interest.
If he believes government appointees are doing a good job, let him tell us why our institutions are still begging IMF for bailouts despite all the revenue they are supposed to generate?
We are tired. Ghana needs NEUTRAL, PROFESSIONAL, FEARLESS leaders for our institutions — not political puppets who cannot bite the hand that appointed them.

In 2020 the World Bank also made a similar statement about the SoEs. It is not akin only to the NDC. Dafeamekpor, please read before you embarrass yourself.

It is not an NDC sickness alone it is a national problem. Some us were expecting the Constitutional amendments to deal with this matter. Most of the persons NDC and NPP appoints to the SoEs are Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) and some Traditional chiefs who may have little knowledge of the sectors of appointment.

It presupposes that the President knows millions of people, their qualifications and competences. It's humanly impossible to know that much people around to pull the best qualified to help him govern.

Since the president don't/can't know that much people to fill up the places, it falls on the party to do that. And we already know where it'll lead... The party obviously will put some square pegs in round holes.

It's about time to limit the number of appointees the President can make. At best, it Should be confined to just his Ministers and a few other appointments into some sectors.

Ghana has officially completed its *$3 billion Extended Credit Facility (ECF)* bailout programme with the IMF and has now transitioned to a *36-month Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI)*.
- The IMF Executive Board completed the 6th and final review of the ECF and reviewed Ghana's request for a 36-month PCI at the authorities' request.
- The Government of Ghana announced it has concluded the ECF and transitioned to a non-financial PCI to maintain long-term fiscal stability.
- The Presidency stated: Ghana has entered into a non-financial agreement with the IMF via the Policy Coordination Instrument. Unlike a bailout, the PCI provides technical assistance without a loan.
- The Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, said Ghana is set to transition from the ECF to a 36-month PCI to consolidate gains and sustain reforms — a non-financing arrangement for countries that no longer have balance of payments needs.
*What is PCI?* It's NOT a loan. No money is given. It is a monitoring and policy credibility framework where IMF checks Ghana's policies every 6 months to signal to investors and donors that Ghana is staying disciplined.
This was approved in July 2026.
