'Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is no longer a member of NPP' - Nana B declares

Henry Nana Boakye, a First Vice National Chairman aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has disclosed that statesman and founding member of the party, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, is no longer a member of the NPP.

According to him, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe has aligned himself with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the re-election of John Dramani Mahama as President.

Speaking on UTV’s morning show on September 11, 2026, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, made the disclosure while discussing the state of unity within the NPP.

He argued that the party is currently more united than it was in 2025 and said the views expressed by some of its founding members in recent months should be considered in that context.

The discussion turned to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe when Nana B was asked about comments made by some founding members of the NPP and whether such statements could affect efforts to unite the party.

Nana B insisted that Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe should no longer be regarded as an NPP member, claiming that the veteran politician publicly indicated that he had aligned himself with the NDC after Mahama assumed office.

“He is not a party member. Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe is no longer an NPP member. When John Mahama became President, he came out to say that he was related to Mahama family wise and that he now associates with him. He said that now that Mahama is President, he is now aligned with the NDC,” he stated.

Henry Nana Boakye further claimed that Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe is frequently used by members of the NDC because, in his view, the former NPP stalwart’s public comments have consistently been critical of the party.

He maintained that Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe should therefore not be considered an NPP representative whenever he speaks publicly, particularly when his comments are critical of the NPP party.

“When he speaks, he should not be considered an NPP person. It is mostly NDC people who use him. All his comments are anti-NPP. He has never commended the party for anything,” he said.

Nana B also disclosed that the NPP had formally communicated its position to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, informing him that he was no longer considered a member of the party.

He described the situation as a forfeiture of party membership and insisted that Dr Nyaho Tamakloe was aware of the party’s position.

“We have written to him. He knows. It is forfeiture of membership, he is not a party member,” he stated.
