Sat, 25 Jun 2005 Source: ghanamusic.com

Her name is Agnes Opoku Agyeman and is one of the rising gospel stars based in Kumasi who has chosen gospel music as the medium to preach about the end times and the coming of Jesus Christ.

Her latest album “Me Nnsan Makyi” is full of praises, adoration, glory and honour to God our Creator and wants to assure Christians and non-believers that Jesus Christ is coming.

Surprisingly the album is not only receiving immense airplay across the nation but has gradually wormed his way into the top positions of all the major local chart shows in Ghana. Her second album (Me Nnsan Makyi) has eight inspirational songs on it, is meant to inspire and touch the hearts of the downhearted.

“Me Nnsan Makyi”, the title track, is already exploding on radio stations across the country and recently won her award at the just ended Ghana Music Awards 2005 as “Best Female Vocal Performance Of the Year”.

The current album produced by Mr. Stephen Asiedu of Assteve Productions, introduces listeners not to look back in life but to move on. “Go forward in life and never turn back because God is always with us,” Agnes says.

Agnes also likes writing songs and reading the bible a lot. She has been in the gospel scene for almost 10 – 12 years now but her first album ‘Yimadesda’ came out three years ago.

Agnes told me in a chat with her at her base in Kumasi that her music career began when God paved the way for her to join their Pentecostal church choir to which she leads beautifully up to date.

When asked the impact of her songs has on listeners, she recalled an unforgetable moment when she sang at a gospel show at Berekum and she saw many miracles happen and won many souls there. She also enjoyed Channel R’s 5th Anniversary Show because she was able to channel her message through her songs on that day.

She takes great inspiration from Esther Nyantakyie and has this word of advise for the youth "be prayerful and Jesus will come and wipe away the tears of sober people".

Agnes Opoku Agyeman will surely soar up high in the sky and definitely make a mark in the Gospel industry. She can be reached by phone 233 24 317 0509.
