Akwaaba Magic celebrated its fifth anniversary on March 2, 2026, at MultiChoice Ghana, with its Managing Director, Alex Okyere, taking the opportunity to unveil an innovative policy aimed at supporting content creators on the platform.
This new announcement is to significantly influence the future of local content in Ghana.
In an interview with GhanaWeb's Naomi Panyin Appiah-Danquah, Okyere elaborated on the comprehensive guidelines for publishing content on Akwaaba Magic.
"We aim to empower Ghanaian creators," Okyere stated, emphasising the network's commitment to fostering a transparent and collaborative environment for filmmakers and producers.
He stressed that creators can directly approach the commissioning editors at Akwaaba Magic.
"You can walk into our office, meet the commissioning editor, and present your ideas and projects. We’re eager to hear what you have to offer," he stated.
During the anniversary event, Akwaaba Magic highlighted its achievements over the past five years, reinforcing its critical role in promoting Ghanaian storytelling.
Okyere further explained, "If your content aligns with our checklist and standards, we will commission you, license your content, and showcase it on Akwaaba Magic. There’s no fee to feature on our platform; in fact, we will compensate you for your contributions."
The new creator policy aims to enhance the growth and quality of content available on Akwaaba Magic.
"If your content meets our criteria and we believe it resonates with Ghanaians, we will engage with you, pay you, and feature your work on our platform," Okyere concluded, heralding a new era for local creators.
