Popular comedian DKB, born Derrick Kobina Bonney, has urged the Ghana police service to investigate and arrest people circulating videos of plastic rice to scare consumers.

According to the comedian, circulating of the video on social media sends fear and panic to consumers.

DKB is the brand ambassador for Giant malt, the same producers of Lele rice, Millicent rice, Prime choice, Cindy etc.

He said Ghanaians should debunk any rumour against the rice brand or any other brand for that matter because there’s no plastic rice on the Ghanaian market.

The comedian posted a video on his social media, which exposed how these people showcase what they claim as ‘plastic rice’ with Lele, Millicent and Prime choice rice bags displayed by the ‘plastic rice’ in the video making it seem real for viewers to question the particular rice brand.

“I have had too much pressure from my fans, asking what really is going on with Lele brand of rice, whether there is an original and fake. I tell them according to the company that there is no difference; just that one branded with “Happy Easter” and the other a generic Lele brand.

DKB said, “management of Lele and I have lodged an official report and investigations on-going to nab these faceless people committing such heinous acts”.

He further added “People should beware when they see a video on Lele brand being plastic rice, they should know it’s a very big lie and should ignore because even according to food and drugs authority there aren’t plastic rice in Ghana and we have their certification so how can we be otherwise. We hope such persons are brought to book to enable consumers freely enjoy their favourite products".
