Veteran highlife musician Rex Owusu Marfo aka Rex Omar says mammoth rallies by political parties doesn’t fetch votes.
The ‘Abiba’ hitmaker disclosed that party supporters who claim are dedicated followers shouldn’t be trusted since they can be in bed with opposing political parties and still attend every rally of other political parties as well.
“Ghanaians are smart that is why I don’t believe in rallies. They don’t bring votes; the way to understand your party and communicate properly to people is what brings votes.”
Omar noted that what led to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) losing to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was as a result of the party’s poor communicators who couldn’t convince electorate with the outstanding infrastructure but rather engaged in pointless propaganda.
He therefore advised colleague celebrities to eschew politics of insults and attacks on political figures.
“We should find a different way to communicate to people. We have a lot to do in this country so we have to go back and do our homework well. Insulting political leaders is uncalled for and must be avoided by famous personalities,” Rex told Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment.
