Lagos police has arrested two suspects linked to Basketmouth’s September incident.
On November 16, one Chiemezie Joseph was arrested while carrying out a robbery at Ilasamaja area of Lagos State. His arrest led to the capture of another mob member, Chibuzor Ugwu, who, further investigation revealed, is the leader of the clique that attacked the comedian.
Items recovered from the suspects include one beretta pistol, two locally made pistols, two AK 47 rifles loaded with ammunition, 12 live cartridges, two iron cutters, master keys and a Mercedes Benz 4matic jeep.
A statement by the state police public relations officer, Dolapo Badmus further revealed that the commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni, while parading the suspects, said the Command will continue to be on the trail of criminals within the state.
On September 7, 2016, the stand-up comedian was robbed at gunpoint in his Lekki home between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Luckily, he and his family were unhurt in the incident, though some valuable items were taken away.
‘Yes I was robbed, yes they made away with a lot of valuables…the great thing is that they didn’t steal my sense of humour. Myself, my wife and kids were not harmed, so we thank God. Big thanks to everyone that reached out, may God bless you abundantly,’ he said then.
Meanwhile, the suspects; Chiemezie and Chibuzor, will soon be charged to court.
