Dan Botwe did not want to go

Frantic efforts to help Dan Botwe, stay as Information minister did not succeed; the president was bent on sacking him.

Botwe yesterday evening in an interview with a radio station said he was called to the Castle and informed by the President ?to step aside.? He said other Ministers had lined up to be told of their fate.

Although his tenure at the Information Ministry was not very successful because he was not media savvy, he is considered good enough to handle another ministry. However, his old cold relationship with President Kufuor seems to have come into play. He reportedly also had problems at his Ministry.
Nevertheless, his dismissal is regarded as a loss to government, primarily because he is a good strategist, credited with engineering the NPP?s election victories in 2000 and 2004 when he was the General Secretary of the party.
