Dance choreography ‘No Rules’ premiered in Accra

The National Theatre, in collaboration with the French Embassy has premiered an afro contemporary dance christened ‘No Rules’, an original choreography of ‘In The Chest Of A Woman’ written by the late Efo Kodjo Mawugbe.

The piece stages a rebellion of an elder daughter who is denied the throne of a kingdom in favour of his younger brother because she is a woman.

In an interview with Joseph Aka, the choreographer of the project, he mentioned that the project is an artistic cooperation between France, Ghana and Ivory Coast, centred on common values of sharing, transmission, emergency and of creation.

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, commended the organisers for such the speculative piece, stressing that it really exhibited passion and good choreography artistic work.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare said it is the ministry’s hope to maintain the collaboration among the three countries as well as use culture to communicate effectively.

Mr Frederick Clavier, French Ambassador to Ghana, said the French government was proud to part of the project which has resulted in a fruitful artistic piece, and hoped to build a better relationship between the countries to explore both cultures and values.
