The one week funeral celebration of veteran hi-life musician, Dr. Paa Bobo has been scheduled for January 11, next year at Akyem-Maase in the eastern region ahead of the major funeral rite.

The original date, January 4, clashes with the "Adae" festival which is held ‘supreme’ above all other functions in the Akan traditional setting, hence the new date.

This follows a meeting between family members of the mother lineage, representatives from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the Asona family of Akyem-Anhwinease, his patrilineal home at the palace of Nana Barimah Gyansi Koree, the chief of Anhwinease.

The compromise was reached after the musicians Union of Ghana and the wife of the late musician failed to convince the family why the one week funeral mourning should take place in his residence in Accra.

The meeting further directed all persons, organizations and media houses who wish to make any contribution, suggestion and interviews ahead of the funeral, to call on the family head or the Anhwinease chief on 0543983292.

Born Moses Kwaku Agyapong Danemah, the 62-year-old veteran hi-life musician, Dr. Paa Bobo passed away at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital Saturday after battling an undisclosed illness.

He started his music career in 1968 by learning how to play the guitar from ace hi-life musician, Smart Nkansah. He was later mentored by Chief Abirekyieba Kofi Sammy of "Yellow sisi" fame before moving to Nigeria to form the ‘Three access band’.

Dr. Paa Bobo has 40 albums and over 35 hit songs to his credit including "Nsem Keka", "Sophia", "Enye M’ania", "Osobro Kyer" among many others.
