END OF SERVICE BENEFITS

Fri, 13 Mar 2009 Source: --

Good morning,

And start calculating yours for this year.

This is to our Prez. and those crying along with them over ex-gratia..

After 4 years of selfless service in Public Figure, a parliamentarian realized that he has not been given the best of 'End of Service Benefit' and other privileges. So he decided to walk up to the President and after exchanging greetings, he presented his grievances to the President.

The President looked at him, smiled and asked him to sit down saying: my friend, you have not served your nation for even one day. The man was surprised to hear that, but the President went on to explain.

President: - How many days are there in a year?

Parliamentarian:- 365 days and some times 366

President: - Good you know some mathematics, how many hours make up a day?

Parliamentarian : - 24 hours

President: - How long do you work in a day?

Parliamentarian: - 8 hours a day.

President: - So, what fraction of the day do you work in hours?

Parliamentarian: - (He did some arithmetic and said 8/24 hours i.e. 1/3 (one third)

President: - That is nice of you! What is one-third of 366 days?

Parliamentarian: - 122 days(1/3x366 days)

President: - Do you come to work at weekends?

Parlimentarian: - No sir

President: - How many days are there in a year that are weekends?

Parliamentarian: - 52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays equals to 104 days (1/3x104 days, assuming 8 hrs/day) gives 35 days

President: - Thanks for that. If you take away 35 days from 122 days, how many days do you now have?

Parliamentarian: - 87 days.

President: - OK! The constitution gives you at least 2 months (60 days) recess every year which wholy belongs to you. Now remove that 60 days from the 87 days left. How many days do you have remaining?

Parliamentarian: - 27 days

President: - Do you work on these days:

New Year, 6th March, Good Friday & Easter Monday, May day, Eid ul Fitr & Eid ul Adha, Republic day, Farmers Day, Christmas Day

Parliamentarian: - No sir!

President: - So how many days are left?

Parliamentarian: - 17 days, Sir!

President: - Do you work on Mondays?

Parliamentarian: - No sir!

President: - We have 52 Mondays/year minus Easter Monday equal 51 (1/3x 51days, assuming 8 hrs/day) gives 17 days. So how many days are left?

Parliamentarian: - 1 day sir!

President: - Do you work on Christmas day?

Parliamentarian: - No sir!

President: - So how many days are left?

Parliamentarian: - None sir!

President: - So, what are you claiming?

Parliamentarian: - I understood Sir! Thank you sir for all the money you have been giving me.
