Film Directors Guild Executives to step down for fresh elections on July 7

The Film Directors Guild of Ghana (FDGG) is set to have its first Constitutional Elections this year to elect National and Regional Executives who will run the of the Association.

The association, which has been ran by Interim National and Regional Executives since 7th July, 2015, is due to step down by 7th July, 2019. Members of the Association agreed on June 22, 2015 that the interim leadership stays in office until July 7, 2019.

In a statement signed by FDGG Communication Director, Daniel Fiifi Jayden the association promulgated their Constitution on 27th February, 2019, which mandates the association to go ahead with their first General Elections as scheduled in four years ago.

He stated that “On Wednesday 13th March, 2019, the leadership of the association inaugurated a five-member National Electoral Committee and tasked the Committee to make all needed and necessary provisions available for the National and Regional Elections. The composition of the Committee is three Standing Members from the association, an Actor and a Journalist.”

The FDGG, he noted will conduct its Elections this year and that the Elections will be conducted on a free and fair manner.

“The ELECTIONS are opened to all members of the association with a Standing Membership Status (SMS). The Committee will conduct the ELECTIONS with ‘No Fear or Favour'. The leadership of the association would like to inform the general public and all members of FDGG about the arrangements and provisions made for the ELECTIONS,” he said.

2. Filing of Nominations Date: 13th April - 17th April, 2019

3. Vetting of Nominees Date: 20th April - 23rd April, 2019

4. Presentation of the Candidates

Date: 25th April, 2019

5. Campaign by Candidates Date: 27th April - 25th May, 2019

6. Elections Day Date: Monday 27th May, 2019

Declaration of the Winners will be on the same day, 27th May, 2019

NATIONAL ELECTIONS FOR 2019

1. Open of Nominations Date: 1st May - 6th May, 2019

2. Filing of Nominations Date: 8th May - 13th May, 2019

3. Vetting of Nominees Date: 15th May - 18th May, 2019

4. Presentation of the Candidates Date: 20th May..

5. Campaign by Candidates Date: 22nd May - 5th July..

6. Elections Day Date: Monday 8th July, 2019.

Declaration of the Winners will be on the same day, 8th July, 2019.

He said the National Electoral Committee of FDGG has their doors opened to all members of the association for further enquiries.
