Galamsey: 'Why haven't the river gods dealt with the chiefs and politicians yet'? - Nana Aba asks

In light of the escalating discussions about the alarming rate of illegal mining (galamsey) and its severe impact on the country, Nana Aba Anamoah has shared her thoughts on social media. 

Recent debates have highlighted the rapid deterioration of Ghana’s rivers due to illegal mining activities, with social media witnessing disturbing clips of once-clear blue rivers now turned brown and contaminated. 

Civil society organizations, chiefs, policy analysts, opposition parties, and many concerned Ghanaians have expressed deep concern over the escalating crisis, which is threatening the nation’s environment and resources. 

Outspoken media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah, has joined the conversation, wondering why the river gods have not taken action against those responsible for the galamsey activities. 

She has questioned why the river gods are seemingly quiet, given the ineffectiveness of all measures to address the issue. 

In her post on X, she expressed frustration, stating why the politicians and chiefs involved haven't yet been dealt with, "What are the river gods doing about the pollution from galamsey? They can’t deal with the politicians and chiefs behind it? I shock give them waa," she wrote on X 

Meanwhile, some netizens are calling for the resignation of President Akufo-Addo and the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, in response to the ongoing crisis.
