Global Citizen, the advocacy body responsible for the renowned Global Citizen Festival has announced a partnership with five Ghanaian non-profit organisations as part of its Move Afrika: Ghana campaign.

The partnerships, which include Stonebwoy’s Livingstone Foundation, Dikan Center, Alliance for African Women Initiative (AFAWI), Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights (ARHR), Lilies of the Field Academy were chosen for their reach and impact, focus on women's and children's health.

According to a statement released by the body on July 25, 2024, this initiative aims to support the missions of these NGOs and enable them to scale their work both locally and globally.

This falls in line with Global Citizens approach to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by strengthening social and economic development, creating jobs, and supporting non-profits to drive local impact.

“Through this partnership, Global Citizen and its non-profit partners will work collaboratively to create lasting change and drive progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals across Ghana,” Liz Agbor-Tabi, Global Citizen’s Vice President of Global Policy and Strategic Relationships, stated.

Meanwhile, the "Move Afrika: A Global Citizen Experience tour in 2024," is set to be hosted in Accra, Ghana, and Kigali, Rwanda.

The inaugural event was held in Kigali in December 2023 and the tour will expand to three countries in 2024 and five by 2025.

This comes after Ghana's first Global Citizen Festival in 2022 which featured performances by artistes like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Usher, and SZA.
