Gospel musicians should lead exemplary lives – Hanna Donkoh

Singing about uprightness and living an upright life are two sides of entirely different coins.

However, gospel musician Hanna Aba Donkoh thinks all the coins can be put in one jar to promote righteousness for those who are yet to receive God.

Not only is she in the country to promote her debut album ‘Boafo Ne Awurade’, the Media Excel signee and a UK nurse, has also charged gospel musicians to live lives that are worthy of emulation by the listeners of their songs.

“I’ll give my life to God, I’ll stop drinking, I’ll stop fornicating and I’ll serve God in truth and in spirit,” she said are things anyone should be able to tell themselves if they take the decision to follow Jesus Christ.

She said it behooves a gospel musician to lead an exemplary life that would not make unbelievers doubt the purity of a Christian and the faith.

By her words, they are “called into the kingdom to spread the word, to win souls, not to draw people away from God,” not forgetting even those who have backslided, “ to remind them that he first loved them and came to die for them.”

This advice seems rather appropriate especially in recent times when gospel musicians like Ernest Opoku have led the headlines of many news portals for all the wrong reasons.

It also resonates with those gospel musicians who treat soul winning with their songs as a mere business venture.
