Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Development Ghana, Akunu Dake, is pleading with government to tread cautiously with plans to make young award winning Ghanaian actor, Abraham Attah, an Ambassador.

According to Akuna Dake, even though Abraham Attah has accomplished greatly in this short period, care needs to be taken since he (Abraham) is not well grounded in the entertainment industry.

He said a hasty decision could destroy the budding talent.

His comment comes after the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare revealed at the media launch of the 11th Okwahu Paragliding festival 2016 that the ministry was looking at making actor, Abraham Attah Ghana’s Tourism Ambassador.

“I certainly think the young man has done quite well and should be encouraged but let us be careful how we handle him, so that we don’t kill his initiative and the talent. There are many people who can sell Ghana, Abraham is a young person who is not fully grounded,” he told Hitz News@1 on Hitz Fm.

Manager of Abraham Attah in an interview with Joy News on his arrival from the United States recently disclosed that he will be relocating to the United States to further his education under a scholarship sponsored by Netflix.

Reacting to the move, Akunu Dake said “I will not prevent anybody from gaining further education, but I would have loved if he was sponsored to some of our good schools here in Ghana so that he can become culturally grounded”.

He added that sometimes Ghanaians are flown outside the country to live or further their education in Western countries only for them to lose completely their cultural grounding.

The ‘Beast of No Nation’ star has bagged three awards since he started active acting in 2015 staring alongside Idris Elba in the film.

He won the ‘Best Male Lead’ award at the 2016 Independent Spirit Awards, he again won Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor at Venice Film Festival 2015 followed by ‘Rising Star Award’ at the Black Film Critics Circle (BFCC).

Meanwhile, Mawuko, the manager of Abraham speaking on Daybreak Hitz said the team hasn’t received an official request from the ministry.

He said “for now, it looks good but also we have to look at what goes into the being an ambassador of Ministry of Tourism, we are waiting to hear from the Ministry but so far no one has approached us.”
