Epixode is one of the most talented musicians in Ghana
Dancehall and Highlife musician Epixode has revealed that he grew up not knowing who his biological mother really was, as he was raised by his aunt.
In an interview on Peace FM on May 28, 2026, the musician explained that his mother is a twin and left him at just six months old to pursue her music career, while he remained with his aunt.
He said at the time his mother was part of one of the biggest bands in Germany, and because the group had several gigs during the summer, she had to travel and go on tour.
“They were on tour. Most of the time, it was during the summer when there were a lot of gigs, and at that time they had one of the biggest bands in Germany, so she had to leave me for her tour,” he said.
The “Chooboi” hitmaker added that from six months to about sixteen years old, he believed his aunt was actually his mother, as he could not tell the difference between the twins.
“I only knew her through videotapes that were sent, and I knew my mother as my aunt. Until I was about 16 years old, I couldn’t tell the difference between the twins. My mother was a twin, so I couldn’t distinguish between them,” he noted.
Epixode also spoke about his upcoming music projects, disclosing that he has had an album ready for almost two years but is still fine-tuning it before release.
He explained that the project is a live-recorded album that requires careful attention to detail and added that most of the songs are inspired by Highlife sounds from the 1960s and 1970s.
