Former Guinness World Record contender, Afua Asantewaa, has added new details to what is the state of her marriage, disclosing that she walked out long before her widely publicised sing-a-thon attempt.

Speaking during a TikTok live session on April 3, 2026, Afua Asantewaa addressed the growing public scrutiny surrounding her relationship, insisting that her decision to leave had nothing to do with fame or attention.

“I left this marriage before the first attempt of singathon,” she said.

According to her, one of the major issues that led to the breakdown of the marriage involved a house they built together.

She claimed her daughter discovered documents that raised serious concerns.

She explained that when she confronted her husband about the situation, he dismissed it as an error, a response she found difficult to accept.

“A man I got married to and we built a house together, my first daughter brought out the house document from his car, we realised he had only his name on it. When I confronted him, he told me it was a mistake,” she stated.

Afua Asantewaa further appealed to the public to allow her to speak her truth, stressing that she has endured enough silence.

“Everyone should let me be because if I don’t wake up tomorrow, no one will speak for me,” she said.

She emphasised that her separation predates her rise to national attention, dismissing claims that her actions are influenced by her popularity.

“I left the marriage before the singathon, so it has got nothing to do with fame,” she reiterated.

Recounting events during the singathon period, she alleged that her husband’s public gestures did not reflect the reality of their relationship behind closed doors.

“You knew what you did to me, so, during the singathon, when a flower was brought to me, you knelt to give me the flowers as if you were a lover boy. We fought in the hotel because you knew I was leaving you,” she revealed.

She also disclosed that her father advised her to remain patient and postpone any formal divorce proceedings due to the timing of the singathon.

“My dad told me that I should be patient and because the singathon was approaching, that’s not the good time to divorce him,” she shared.

Despite the advice, Afua Asantewaa says she is no longer willing to remain silent, especially in the face of what she describes as ongoing public criticisms and bullying.

She added that her daughter has been a source of strength, encouraging her not to endure a situation that could negatively affect her life.

“I’m not going to shut up anymore. The bullying is too much. My daughter would tell me that I shouldn’t let a man ruin my life, she sees what her father does to me,” she added.
