Renowned Ghanaian movie star, Clement Bonney popularly known as ‘Mr Beautiful’ has rubbished media reports that he had severed ties with the ruling NDC.

According to him, he cannot abandon the National Democratic Congress (NDC) even if the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia orders him to stop campaigning and quit the NDC.

“Even if Asiedu Nketia suspends me from campaigning for the NDC party, I will beg him to allow me wear the Party’s T-shirt… I sacrificed four years ago and by God’s grace the sacrifice has yielded growth. There have been massive developmental projects undertaken by the NDC government that Ghanaians can bear witness to. I have achieved fruits from the sacrifices I made."

Reports on some online media portals disclosed celebrated actors, John Dumelo and Clement Bonney had severed ties with the ruling NDC because of the party’s decision to pay Nigerian actor, Nkem Owoh, popularly known in showbiz as Osuofia, a sum of $50,000 to feature in a National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign advert.

But Mr Bonney noted that “If someone from Nigeria has seen the good works the president has undertaken under his term in office, and he sponsors an advert, what’s wrong with that? We should welcome him. Not to disrespect. We speak anyhow. No one takes time to investigate the story” Bonney fumed.

Mr Beautiful claims some persons have made overtures to him to join the the NPP.

“Someone invited me over to the NPP with reasons that President Mahama doesn’t respect the movie industry but I am not going there…Mahama really respects actors and actresses in the industry. I am still a member, I am still campaigning and I will continue to campaign till John Mahama is sworn-in as president after the December 7 polls…” he said on Accra based Neat FM.
