Popular Ghanaian boxer, Braimah Kamoko, a.k.a Bukom Banku says the gods of the Ga Traditional Council should kill him and his entire family for “flouting” the ban on drumming and noise making instead of killing innocent Ghanaians as claimed by the Ga Traditional Council.

The president of the Council, Nii Dodoo Tackie at a press conference on Thursday, blamed the June 3, 2015 flood and fire disasters that claimed over 150 lives on the celebrity vigil held on May 16 and the bout between Bukom Banku and Ayitey Powers.

According to the Ga Traditional Council, the fight which was staged during the ban on drumming and noise making was held to the “displeasure of the traditional rulers”.

“… a boxing of the tournament between Bukom Banku and Ayitey Powers was staged at Accra Sports Stadium much to the displeasure traditional rulers because it was staged during the ban on drumming and noise making…”, Nii Dodoo Tackie said.

But speaking on Kasapa FM’s Anopa Kasapa, controversial Bukom Banku said his bout with Ayitey Powers in 2014 could not be blamed for the disasters.

According to him, the area where the bout took place (Osu) was free from the ban. He indicated that if indeed they flouted any rule, he should have been killed rather than innocent people.

“Why didn’t the gods kill me and my family? Let them kill me. I have a wife, kids and siblings… they could have come for us instead of killing the innocent people. I don’t think we did anything wrong by choosing to fight on that day. I believe in tradition but this is wrong,” he said.

Adding: “This is no issue. Why would they come and tell us we were responsible. Yes, the ban on drumming was around at that time but the Osu people were not having theirs. It is wrong for this to be blamed on Ayitey Powers and I.”
