Kelvynboy is a Ghanaian Afrobeats artiste
Ghanaian Afrobeats hitmaker Kelvynboy has declared his growing conviction in Highlife music, urging fellow musicians to lean deeper into the genre as a vehicle for Ghana's cultural identity on the global stage.
Speaking in an interview with Trigmatic on 3FM, the singer said a noticeable shift in public sentiment has reinforced his belief that now is the right time to focus on the country's signature sound.
"I've come to really believe in Highlife more. I really do believe in it," he said. "I feel like, doing Afrobeat, if we really touch base with the Highlife elements well, it's really going to help us."
Kelvynboy pointed to a growing wave of national pride and cultural rediscovery as the driving force behind his position.
"I see people talk about Ghana, the independence; people are coming back to love our things again. So I'm like, 'yo, the Highlife. Let's just keep doing Highlife,'" he said.
The musician extended the call beyond himself, urging both artistes and fans to rally behind the genre.
"We should keep doing Highlife and it will help us," he said.
