Wode Maya showing off his damaged camera
Ghanaian YouTuber and travel vlogger Wode Maya has revealed that he and his team were involved in a road accident in Lusaka, Zambia, on the very day his channel crossed the two-million-subscriber mark.
In a video shared on his X handle on April 21, 2026, the content creator disclosed that the crash resulted in the total destruction of his filming equipment, bringing an ongoing documentary project to an abrupt halt.
"The camera gadgets are gone, everything: the microphone, the cameras and the monitor. All the videos that you watch, there are a lot of things that go on behind the scenes. We had an accident," he said, while showing the damaged items to his audience.

According to him, the timing made the incident particularly bittersweet.
"This is a day we will never forget. We hit two million subscribers on the day we had the accident," he revealed.
He noted that the crash has put his latest project on hold just as it was nearing completion.
"The documentary we were doing is on hold. We are almost done; we were almost wrapping up," he said.
Despite the scale of the setback, Wode Maya was quick to put things in perspective and shut down any suggestion of seeking public sympathy.
"I am not showing you this for sympathy. I don't need sympathy from anyone. The fact that we are still alive is the most important thing," he said.
