Highlife musician, Lucky Mensah, has disclosed that the ‘Come back to me’ song he composed for Late President John Atta Mills during the 2008 elections was out of pity.
According to him, Mills at that time was embarking on a ‘sorrowful’ campaign, hence his decision to support him with a powerful campaign song.
“In 2008, I realized that Mills’ campaign was so miserable. His house to house campaign was very sad. No musician at that time stood up to support him so I availed myself and did it out of pity.”
Speaking in an interview with OkayFM, Lucky denied receiving any form of payment for singing for Mills adding that he was rather mocked by his NPP friends for campaigning for a ‘broke’ party.
“My friends who were campaigning for NPP at that time were trolling me for supporting NDC. They didn’t understand why I chose to help NDC when I would have made lots of money from supporting NPP. NDC didn’t have any money as an opposition party,” he stated
He, nonetheless, urged Ghanaians not to doubt President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to delivering on his campaign promises.
In view of that, lucky vowed to campaign again for President Nana Addo this year.
“I know he will deliver on all his promises. The time given him is not due. We will give him another 4-year term so he can finish what he started. Nana has been able to fix the dumsor crises. He has also introduced the Free SHS policy. He has done more but these two projects are what I cherish the most. I am stating bluntly that I will still campaign for Nana,” he added.
