News-One has gathered that sensational singer Mzbel, born Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, is lacing her boots to give celebrity actresses Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Nelson and Nadia Buari a hot chase in the acting arena.

Reports say Mzbel is starring in Venus Film’s upcoming movie, ‘Single Six’, and she is currently on set with the film’s cast and crew. If she is able to impress the producer and the general public with her acting delivery, then she stands a better chance of depriving some actresses of their roles. “Yes, I am using Mzbel in my next movie and she is playing lead role,” Abdul Salam confirmed the rumour last Friday. She is starring alongside Yvonne Okoro, Zynnell Lydia Zuh, Gloria Sarfo and Beverly Afaglo who are part of the ‘Single Six’ club.

The movie is about six single women who are battling the hardships in life to attain their set goals and dreams. It is not clear why Mzbel was cast for a role among the ‘Single Six’, especially when her marital status remains unclear. Mzbel reportedly starred in movies like ‘East of Life’ and ‘Destiny Child’, in the past. But those were shot when there wasn’t too much attention on the movie industry.

Mzbel was born, bred and schooled in Accra. In Ghana, she is popularly known as a musician but with her entry into movies, she has gradually added a new calling.

The songstress initially wanted to be a newscaster but financial difficulties prevented her from enrolling at the Ghana Institute of Journalism. She thus went to the Ghana Institute of Languages and later enrolled at the Manifold College. She studied Public Relations, Television and Radio productions.
