The followers and sympathizers of the former NPP Krowor Constituency Deputy Youth Organizer, Shadrach Mcpong Borteye, are enraged by his arrest Monday by the Kpeshie Divisional Police.
Mr. Bortey was honouring an invitation by the police for an alleged comment, he purportedly made on social media about the Member of Parliament for the area who is also the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, but was arrested and detained.
The invitation and subsequent arrest have largely been seen as political intimidation of opponents in the same party as the party’s primaries to elect a parliamentary candidate for the next general elections approach.
His handlers say the MP deployed similar tactics on the eve the KroMA assembly voted to confirm Mr. Joshua Bortey as the MCE of the municipality.
